Getting into Ibiza

Single-terminal airport on the south of the island, ~7 km from Ibiza Town and ~16 km from Sant Antoni. Charter-heavy in summer (May-October); much quieter in winter. Most arrivals are between 15:00-23:00 in season; expect rank queues for taxis at peak.

Your options, ranked

First option = the editor’s default sane choice for the average traveller.

  1. 1Bus L10 → Ibiza Town → Sant Antoni

    Cost
€3.50 to Ibiza Town; €4.20 to Sant Antoni.
    Door-to-centre
20 minutes to Ibiza Town; ~50 minutes to Sant Antoni (via town).
    Best for
Anyone heading to Ibiza Town, Marina Botafoch, or Sant Antoni without booked transfer.

Runs every 30 min in summer (less off-season). Pay cash to the driver; bag space is tight in peak hours.

  2. 2Bus L9 → Santa Eulària via Ibiza Town

    Cost
    €2.20.
    Door-to-centre
    30-45 minutes to Santa Eulària.
    Best for
North/east coast hotels (Es Canar, Cala Llonga, Santa Eulària).

Hourly in summer. Ask the driver to confirm your stop — small villages have unmarked stops.

  3. 3Taxi (white with green stripe)

    Cost
€20-25 to Ibiza Town; €30-40 to Sant Antoni; €40-55 to north-coast resorts (San Joan, Portinatx).
    Door-to-centre
10 minutes to Ibiza Town; up to 50 minutes to far north.
    Best for
Late arrivals, families, multiple bags, or anywhere off the bus routes.

Official rank only — surge pricing isn't a thing here, but August queues can hit 30-45 minutes. Pre-book a transfer if landing >22:00.

  4. 4Pre-booked transfer (Welcome Pickups, etc.)

    Cost
From €35 for a sedan to most resorts; €60-90 for a minivan.
    Door-to-centre
    Same as taxi.
    Best for
Group of 4+, late-night arrivals, anyone who hates queue stress.

Gotchas — what most people get wrong

  • Late August / early September are the airport's annual peak. Charter check-in queues can be 90 minutes — don't cut it fine on departure day.

  • There's no train to / from the airport — Ibiza has no rail network at all. It's bus or taxi only.

  • Renting a car in season requires booking weeks ahead. The Sant Jordi car-rental zone is opposite the terminal; collection adds 20-30 min.

  • If you've booked a 'shuttle' through your hotel and they're a no-show, the L10 bus is your fallback. Don't pay an unmarked white car at the rank.
